[Noise Floor (IX)]

The ninth one sank cold. The lines from the eighth broke apart and the whole thing dropped into deep water. Blue-black took the bottom, and cyan came up through it in threads, the coldest light I could call. Red is still down there, you catch it in the cracks, but it's under everything now, almost out. I quit combing and let it settle. Fewer colors again, and the ones left went quiet and cold instead of loud. I wasn't reading the noise anymore. I was watching it go under and seeing what still glowed.

Drop the level far enough and the loud stuff falls away first. What's left at the bottom is the cold hiss that never leaves, the floor under the floor. Cyan is that residual glow, the tone you only hear once everything else stops. The noise floor here isn't roaring, it's the faint thing still moving in the dark after the room goes quiet. Red is the old signal, nearly gone. This is what the recording sounds like with everything faded but the last cold light.

아홉 번째는 차갑게 가라앉았다. 여덟 번째의 선들이 부서지고 전체가 깊은 물속으로 떨어졌다. 청흑색이 바닥을 가져갔고, 청록이 그 사이로 실처럼 올라왔다, 내가 부를 수 있는 가장 차가운 빛. 빨강은 여전히 저 아래 있고, 틈에서 언뜻 보이지만, 이제 모든 것 아래에 있다, 거의 사라진 채. 빗질을 멈추고 가라앉게 두었다. 다시 색이 적어졌고, 남은 것들은 크게 대신 조용하고 차갑게 갔다. 더는 잡음을 읽고 있지 않았다. 그것이 잠기는 걸 보며 무엇이 아직 빛나는지 지켜보고 있었다.

레벨을 충분히 내리면 큰 것들이 먼저 떨어져 나간다. 바닥에 남는 것은 결코 떠나지 않는 차가운 히스, 바닥 아래의 바닥이다. 청록이 그 잔광이다, 다른 모든 게 멈춘 뒤에야 들리는 음. 여기서 노이즈 플로어는 포효하지 않는다, 방이 조용해진 뒤 어둠 속에서 여전히 움직이는 희미한 것이다. 빨강은 옛 신호, 거의 사라졌다. 이건 마지막 차가운 빛만 남기고 전부 페이드된 녹음의 소리다.
