On the left, the face I wanted to draw. Clean, anime, the kind of line that looks good on a poster. On the right, what actually came out. Messy, loud, both eyes different sizes. I wrote it right there on the page: why do I draw this kind of line every time? Because I want to make a great charming character. The thing is, the right side is the charming one. I just didn’t know that yet when I started. The line figured it out before I did.
왼쪽은 내가 그리고 싶었던 얼굴이다. 깔끔하고, 애니메이션풍이고, 포스터에 어울릴 법한 선. 오른쪽은 실제로 나온 것이다. 지저분하고, 시끄럽고, 양쪽 눈 크기가 다르다. 그 위에 직접 썼다. 나는 왜 매번 이런 선을 긋는 걸까? 멋지고 매력적인 캐릭터를 만들고 싶어서. 근데 매력적인 건 오른쪽이다. 그릴 때는 몰랐을 뿐이다. 선이 나보다 먼저 알아냈다.
