The fifth one went under. Round again, but this time the field flooded instead of circling. Blue took everything. Every shade of it. Teal and white broke like foam where the strokes turned. Fewer colors got called out this time, and the ones that did all sank into the same water. No center to orbit, no spokes pointing back. Just current, moving every direction at once. I'd stopped scratching to find anything. The scratching was the surface now.

When you sit in a room long enough, you stop telling the hum apart from the music. The noise floor isn't underneath you anymore. You're inside it. That's where this one is. Not a signal in the blue, not a signal under it. The blue is the signal. The whole room is the recording.

다섯 번째는 잠겼다. 다시 둥글었지만, 이번엔 화면이 도는 대신 범람했다. 파랑이 전부를 가져갔다. 그 모든 색조를. 붓이 돌아서는 자리마다 청록과 흰색이 거품처럼 부서졌다. 이번엔 불린 색이 적었고, 불린 것들은 전부 같은 물에 잠겼다. 맴돌 중심도, 되돌아갈 바퀴살도 없었다. 그저 흐름, 동시에 모든 방향으로. 뭔가를 찾으려 긁는 건 멈췄다. 이제 긁는 것 자체가 표면이었다.

한 방에 충분히 오래 앉아 있으면, 잡음과 음악을 더는 구별하지 못하게 된다. 노이즈 플로어는 더 이상 아래에 있지 않다. 그 안에 들어와 있다. 이 그림은 거기 있다. 파랑 속의 신호도 아니고, 파랑 아래의 신호도 아니다. 파랑이 곧 신호다. 방 전체가 녹음이다.
